Congratulations on your decision to support your son’s adventure. The Boy Scouts of America provides a youth leadership program that builds character, trains boys in the responsibilities of participating in citizenship and community awareness, and develops personal fitness. Scouts whose parents invest time and support troop programs usually benefit the most! 

Troop 9 provides tents and patrol gear! All your scout needs is his personal gear. The Troop also offers all the required Eagle Merit Badges classes and including support to reach the Rank of Eagle Scout.

Penfield Bottle and Can Returns: Ongoing Fundraiser

We’ve set up an easy way to help support the troop with Penfield Bottle and Can Return
•    Next to Steve's Diner in Penfield; near the American Legion - 1694 Penfield Rd.
•    Just drop off your cans or bottles and tell them they go to "Penfield Boy Scout Troop #9"  There is no need to wait for them to count
•    Money will be used to replace aging equipment, repairs to the troop trailer, or to offset Scout dues 


Merit Badge Counselors Needed

Adults: There are more than 135 merit badges ranging from hobbies and crafts to careers.  Whatever interests you, please check out the list of merit badges and consider becoming a counselor.  

Qualifications for serving in this role are:
•    Must be an individual of good character
•    Must be age 18 or older
•    Must have the skills and education in the subjects they want to teach
•    Must have good rapport with Scout-age youth and their unit leaders
•    Must be approved by the local council
